Every once in awhile I get in the mood for some kid crafts. I have no idea why. I guess in some ways I really am just a kid at heart. Like when I came up with the craft (that is still one of my most popular posts) and that easy insect craft I shared with Juggling Act Mama awhile ago. Well, I’ve been at it again and today I’ve got another quick bug craft to make with your kids. This one is a Clothespin Dragonfly Craft. I had all the stuff for this craft at home and hopefully it will provide some busy creative time for your kiddos during the boring summer months ahead. You can also easily make this into a Valentine’s Day dragonfly craft. Who wouldn’t love make a fun little Valentine dragonfly with clothespins and gems? This also works as a great preschool bug craft too
Make a beautiful dragonfly craft using clothespins and pipe cleaners! It’s a great spring craft idea for kids to make. They can choose any colors that they want as well.
Sometimes the simplest crafts are the best. You only need a few materials for this one along with our printable template to create the wings, and it’s very quick to make too. Older kids will love designing patterns for the tail of their dragonflies, but they are also easy enough for little kids to make without losing focus and attention.
The finished peg dragonflies make sweet DIY toys for imaginary play, or alternatively you could glue magnets on the back of them and use them as decorations on your fridge.

Cardboard (purple and yellow)
Crepe paper (yellow and light pink)
A glue stick
Use your paint brush to paint your whole clothespin blue. Set it aside to dry.
Draw four oblong wing shapes; two on your yellow paper and two on your purple paper. I made mine about two inches long, rounded on one end with a straight edge at the other. Cut all four pieces out.
Cut strips about two inches long and half an inch wide from your crepe paper; two pieces from the yellow and one piece from the light pink.
Roll teach of those strips into little balls between your hand. These will make your dragonfly’s body and head.
Apply glue to the bottom of each crepe paper ball and stuck them in a row down the flat top of the clothespin so the pink ball sits at the front tip with the two yellow balls behind it.
Apply glue to the backs of your googly eyes and stick them onto the front of your light pink ball where your dragonfly’s head is.
You’re all finished, nice and quickly! Just in case you’d like to try this project out for yourself, here’s a fantastic tutorial video to help you!
